Description |
One day, Mary wakes up to the news that a terrible illness has killed her parents. It is decided that she should move from India to England — a country she has never been to before — to live with her uncle, Archibald Craven. Accompanied by Mr Craven's chief
housekeeper, Mrs Medlock, Mary eventually arrives at her uncle's house. The house is huge and dark, with only a few lights in the windows. When Mary is taken to her cold, dark bedroom, she feels lonely and confused. |
